Ever so often I look at tv commercials with such obvious quality problems (typos, jagged green screen edges on actors, over exposure etc), and I wonder how much the client actually paid. In my world, when you hire a production crew there are certain expectations that come as a basic requirement, unspoken things that you would not think to address after the fact, because they are basic. In recent weeks I find myself staying up late, re-editing videos because of my obsession with perfection. Most of the time the customer does not see this extra work, but do they have to? They pay for results, and anything short of our best work is a disservice to them. At least that's what I think.
